I accidently dropped a classic range Vifa 6 and a half inch speaker and tweeter (by itself no box) about 3 and a half feet from the ground and it hit the floorboards on its magnet side.
I have not yet to install the speakers, how can I tell if there damaged or not. I gently pushed the cone on the woofer in and it seems to move Ok.

If i remember school correctly, when you impact a magnet, you have the risk that you change is magnetic properties...So even if the cone move freely with you hand will not ensure that the magnet is not "corrupted".

Re: would it effect its sound
compare it to the un-dropped one, if you can't hear any differences between them then you probably havn't caused any damage.
Having the magnet hit the floor first probably saved the speaker from more serious damage (assuming the shock doesn't crack the magnet)

I've dropped a few drivers in my life and many of them were ok.
The Gauss 4202 driver has an extremely tough ceramic magnet because i dropped it from a height of 1m onto the concrete when carrying the very heavy driver into my house, and the magnet is fine, not a crack on it.
