Driving a 12" (sealed) subwoof driver up into 300-500 Hz?

The Dayton RSS315HF-4 driver, for example, states freq response up to 1000Hz.

Assuming they were in stereo, active crossover, etc, any reason not to cross them over in that 300-500 range, or is that too high?

They didn't tested the frequency response so we don't know.

You could cross it at 500 Hz, that's mostly the maximum to prevent lobing with a 12 inches subwoofer.

You would need to elevate it closer to your ears or it will sound awful.
