I'm closing in on making some sawdust.
I'm using 1 : 1.618 ratios for the box.
My thoughts are ideally the box is .618 from top to bottom, but I'd like to get the driver up higher.
Would more box resonances happen if driver was right up to the top edge of the box ?

I often use the golden ratio to place drivers on the baffle, at least in the wide CGRs.
Up 0.618 form the bottom, and the same ratio off to one side (mirror image), but as lng as the drive risn’t to close to any wall should be OK.
The golden ratio just happens to be a particualrily useful irrational number.

thanks, I was thinking that but hoping otherwise...………….
On floor, box will be 33" tall x 20" wide x 13" deep, very overstuffed...………
driver center approximately 20" from bottom.
my attempt at how it will look...……….
but black baffle, rounded over edges, and mocha trim

Is that first a picture of the box from Oz with FA22? I don’t like the lip at the edge.
He wa susing the deVore as a cosmetic reference.
Note the short stands. I would recommend similar to get the driver up where you want it, if that is nor acheivable by pushing the driver up in the box.

The first box is the fern & roby “raven” using the f8 exotic ($800), manipulated.
I just tossed it into paint and copy / pasted to get it close to the golden ratio dimensions.
My box basically is the same sized as the fern one, I just got rid of the stand and filled the box in to the floor.

On the inside it might encourage some modes, but you'd be planning to damp them with stuffing?
On the outside it would vary the diffraction, maybe increasing its intensity and reducing its delay, and maybe altering the directivity at some frequencies toward the ceiling.

much much stuffing.
Box is waaaaayyyyyyyy bigger than it needs to be, qtc below .6 if I remember
mainly so big to push baffle step down and get driver off the floor

I see. In a manner of speaking, putting the driver near the edge is reducing baffle support.. but I would agree that pushing the baffle step down can be worthwhile.
I’d not get it so close to the top. I’d be less worried about early reflections.
The standing wave resonance along the 33” dimension will also be an issue, i used 4-5” of damping at the Compact Floorstanders as well as placing the vent entrance well away from the ends of the box.
Here are the FA22 boxes Rankstranger in Melbourne made. Based on the Fern+Roby but with the much more affordable FA22. I like his better cosmetically than the ones you posted.

I agree, my eyes like the shape better, but I’ve never gone wrong with 1:1.618 ratios either.
The bare wood (Ply) and black baffle turned out nice, better than the mocha to my eyes.
I’ll show wife and see what she thinks.
I expect 5lbs if stuffing in my proposed 3ft3.
I had 3 in 3 last time (acustuff).

From an internal POV, stuffed sealed allows the driver to be at the extreme top as it acoustically 'feels' like it's in the top plate.
Well, from an internal POV the driver can be anywhere on any face since the damping removes all reflections except between its frame and backside of the diaphragm, but normally due to the randomness of these they're too weak to be audible, so yes to your specific location.
