I sure would like to see somebody do a reality check on the concept in a more advanced program. It is one thing to fiddle around I hornresp and get a nice frequency response. But can it even be built? I haven’t made a drawing yet so I don’t know.
Oh by the way, I’m the Swedish guy you gave you model to so I could shrinking your 2khz multicell to my toy VOT A7. And it was back in February we discussed the concept at the “Horn loudspeaker forum”

I remember a company that no longer makes speakers that combined multiple 4” Faital pro in to a single horn. It’s not the same but similar. We can't be the only ones to have thought of this over the past 90 years. But I have not seen it done.
How many hours have I spent with Hornresp doing sims of hons like this, but never built one. Would it sound as good as a single diver (almost) single point horn? Or would it wound more like a typical line array with all the phase issues that entails?

That patent is particularly applicable to the old ‘Quadhorn’ subwoofer from Flare Audio, rather than the 4” drivers. The 4” were simply mounted on a flat baffle, which was pressed by steel plates bolted from the front and rear. The ‘vortex port’ is an aperiodic or resistive port.I remember a company that no longer makes speakers that combined multiple 4” Faital pro in to a single horn. It’s not the same but similar.

I heard most of their boxes a number of times over the years they were making them. The closest to that patent for midrange applications was the original ‘Stealth’ box, which was a wide and heavy monster with fixed angles for each individual midrange straight horn.
In fact, I came across some of the smaller ones in a bar last week, although I can’t say that was a particularly pleasant sonic experience.
Ohh i connected the dots the wrong way. So the 4” Faital pro were used similar to how Bose once did? That makes a lot of sense looking at the patent and frequency range mentioned. Thank you for setting me straight!
Do I imagine it correctly that it is something like a giant compression driver made from single units with a "phase plug" at the output?
Nice dream,I usually dream about women with multiple breast though, looking forward to see what happens with the driver,I have for fun glued many 1 inch and 2 inch computer speakers driver on some horns to get an idea,it sounded a bit compromised a waveguide is different from a horn that unloads a compression driver.
Your idea also made me think about this beast

DPRK knows how to party - maybe not much "bass"
inflation hasn't yet touched this wonderful deal at PE: $150 gets four-20" re-entrant horns - the start of a loud-speaker.

so how does an alert device compare to something that is supposed to have wide band "fidelity" factor in....????
I've played with junked - ancient EV CDP and they sounded pretty good outdoors - IIRC they were part of some of the EV K-horn systems. Partsexpress has on and off axis curves for their 16 and 20 inch diameter re-entrant horns with a Dayton. Clustered, I would think they would get "loud".
The front horn on EV's compound horn was pretty much carried over to some coaxial such as used by Eminence.

That is a nice example of the idea visually, but I believe that the B&C 4” have way more umph down low. It certainly have more clean excursion.
Hey pano don't really want to invade op dreams, but us diy-ears love history
