I used the FE 206en and it sounded very nice. The bass rolled off quickly past 70hz but I was using a fleawatt. The mids were awesome and the highs were sweet and airy. Off axis was less than desireable but toeing them in helped. As for the plans, I'll have to get into my computer later. I have since sold these horns and just moved from Canada to South Korea. Funny I was just reading your (xrk971) Karlson posts. I'm looking for a smaller speaker to build and was leaning towards Planet 10's Lance....but Im getting off topic.

If you want a small speaker with rich warm bass and a huge presence and wide sound stage - the 0.4x Karlsonator is one of the best I have heard. For the size, cost involved, effort, it is a tough speaker to beat. Look at all the satisfied builds.
I would go with Faital Pro 3FE25 8ohm driver. You won't believe the sound. 🙂
I was indeed skipping all over the place and kinda lost track of the right driver/box combo. I could probably get away with the .53x. Until I build my next tube amp I want to pivk up a chip amp....which one were you recommending? Is there one with a built-in DAC and headphone amp? (Can you tell, I'm starting over). Actually my collection of tubes and parts is behind me still on a ship but man I'm biting at the bit. All I have is my CD collection, computer and AKG K702's....
Xrk971: thanks for the advice. I have never built with Faital drivers. I'm sure I'll find them in Seoul. Feel free to throw plans my way. I'll be using plywood. Cheers, Sean
Sean,
I've had great luck with Schiit audio's DAC's. Solid, reasonably priced, and excellent performance.

Here are the plans for the 0.53x: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/atta...l-tc9fds-karlsonator_.53x_dual_vifa_tc9fd.pdf
There is also some plans in this post:

For 0.53x, you can use dual Faital Pro 3FE25's, or dual TC9FD's, or a single Dayton PA130-8 (I really like this combo as it has great sensitivity and punch).
RE the Alfredo Drawings. Since I've been setting horn speakers up for CNC milling I don't dimension the drawings. With the exception of some overall reference dimensions they're embedded in the digital file. The drawings have to be very accurate but it makes the build much, much easier. If anyone would like a DXF file please let me know.
Dave those are the drawings I sent you...and of course the ones I used for the build. Pretty accurate with a couple of mistakes; I was extrapolating from the originals. Anyone using them will see there are a couple of wrong angles.

Yes. And a good drawing it is 🙂
