Can a 2" or 4" dome midrange be integrated into the front stage of a car audio system along with a conventional 2-way component set ? I'm thinking for location would be: 6.5" mid-range in doors (semi off axis) 1"silk dome in the dash (off-axis using windshield) and dome midranges in kick pods or low in the doors either on or off axis. any thoughts ?
Re: Hmmmm?
They will have there own designated amp with active x-over, so the mechanics of the system will be ok, i'm concerned with the improvement or destruction of the sound stage. the dome midrange freq will be playing the primary vocal range correct ? so, will they dominate or help staging?klm1 said:How about 2-2", per side, so's you can get proper ohmage into your system???
Don't see a problem, but a crossover might just be(a Problem)...
efficiency?
Hz crossed over?
power @ clipping?
Proper amp sizing?
Like with anything vehicle specific, you're limited to your surroundings. If it were me and I had the capability I'd put them front and near center. That's where the soundstage would start and imaging would be pin-point.
Madisound seems to have some stuff on sale, perhaps check them out.

Looks like you put in a fair bit of work on it already - good for you! I think you'll be turning heads once you're done.
And Winnipeg... despite getting a bit of snow yesterday, we've had the best winter/spring that I can remember. Perfect, 'cause I get to start on projects earlier
