Does more crossovers = better sound?

I have not read every single post in this thread so this point may have already been made but multi-amping does reduce the IM Distortion in the respective power amps. This is the very first point made by Martin Colloms in his book on high performance speakers when he lists the various benefits of multi-amping.
It is arguably why a number of people have reported the multi-amped system sounding better than they had expected it to when compared with the previous passive system....
Don't want to get into a debate about the 'sound' of power amps...just passing on the observations of others...

Fully valid point.
Typically classD amp or high current AB amp is used for the woofers, that way no matter what distortion happens, does not automatically pollute the midrange and tweeter section. Plus one can use low watt classA amps for upper sections. That's why we are all building SE tube amps, or classA SS amps.
Cheers!
