2N5461 have too small xconductance , at least for my liking

J271 is direct replacement here for 2SJ74 , even regarding that parameter

and - it's easy to source them at usual on-line stores ; just look what's written on bags on that pic in #17

From the pic, it would seem that J309 is its cohort. Have you built and tested with this combo?

I didn't tested J309 with J271 , but Gray Rollins did .

considering datasheets , I have no doubts that J271 will work as intended for Alephs

Jfet is a Jfet is a Jfet ........ if all are adequate
