Does anyone have a pair of TDA1540? Working pulls are fine. Or a main board from a CDP that has those chips on it
There is interesting lot in The Netherlands... 🙂

You can check which players have the TDA1540: https://vasiltech.narod.ru/CD-Player-DAC-Transport.htm
So that you know which CD players you can buy broken on e-Bay to extract the TDA1540 dac chips.
Avoid Chinese offers - most are fakes, even TDA1540, not only TDA1541.

I've gone down the rabbit hole of vintage 14 and 16 bit philips DAC chips. There's a few threads on people designing new boards to accommodate I2S input, design updates, and balanced output. The whole idea is to see how good you can get 44.1Khz/16 bit to sound. For me its a journey, nothing ventured, nothing gained
When engineers wanted people to switch from lp to cd, their focus was good sound. Later on their focus was and still is ever bigger profit.
If you give these early multibit dacs good psu and excellent analog stage and do good decoupling, they are hard to beat with today's equipement - you need the best stuff and even then opinions may differ.
And you can diy and play. 🙂

I also have 10 other players that I will check when I get back home n week
You'll have to get a lil creative. I've been cross referencing eBay with this useful little site Dutch Audio Classics Complete DAC List.
I've been looking for a while but I was finally able to score a Philips FD-1041 for just over $100 shipped today. Fingers crossed the unit is serviceable
