I've not had any experience with using a tv tuner card on a pc. Does it allow you to watch tv "full screen" on the monitor? Can you attach a dvd player to it and watch full screen action scenes on a lcd monitor without the tearing or jerking people are talking about with some of the lower resolution ohp panels? Does this require the computer to have a fast processor or does it do all the "processing" within the card itself? Sorry for all the questions, I'm thinking of a different approach to our panel problem and need the info to figure out whether to proceed with some "experimentation" or not! 😀
The processor may play a part in screen tearing, however the main problem with the lower end panels/projectors is the fact that their response time is too large. This cannot be remedied by modifying the input source, the problem lies within the LCD panel itself.
On the subject of TV tuners, I'm pretty sure they work by overlaying an image onto a screen, so the graphics card and processor have to do very little work. I've had one in my ancient performa 6320 (ahh it was a gem) and that's how it worked, and the new one I have in my current computer works(in my case doesn't work :-() by the same way. And yes you can set up a dvd player to your tv tuner, and it would probably be tear free on a regular CRT monitor.
Hope that helps,
Paza

Thanks, Paza!
I appreciate the help, I'll go ahead and start tearing things apart now! My projector project consists of lots of parts and pieces at the moment, but a plan is formulating.......
Now to get it past the "finance department".... Thanks!
