I have a bass reconstructor 'Phonics Digital PD-BX" and it does not have the bass remote. I bought for 10 dollars because I wanted to see how it works. I connected it up and it doesn't seem to make any music 'boom' I tried adjust the 'wide' and 'sweep' controls and does nothing. Can someone fill me in on this thing? Thanks

I have a similar model, a soundstream BX12, digital bass driver, and let me tell you that at least in the soundstream model, without the remote control, the device does nothing.Depending the features of your processor, but the remote control should have one or two knobs.
One is for the programable filter match, you move it to the desired center frecuency you want to maximize with the processor. I found myself that i almost never use this feature.
The other one is for the amount of bass reconstrucction...this is the one you move to get the desired effect in your bass.If your processor have jumpers, the sensivity of this control is affected.
The remote control that you need to operate your unit is not very expensive, though...

usually, the remote is just an option so you can adjust from the driver seat. i would double-check your connections and settings.
it appeqars that yours has the controls on the knobs. the one he has apparently has on-board adjustments. btw, if you want "boom", than turn the sweep frequency up and "wide" more narrow. however, you won't get the higher frequencies out of it if the amp or head cross-over is filtering out those frequencies you are trying to re-construct. what are the settings? i would try flat (no boosting, loud,etc) and the frequencies above 80hz, and subsonic only as high as needed, if you are using ss as per direction/design of the sub/ enclosure. 100 is a good starting point, but sometimes bleeds over male voice. once you have everything flat, then you can figure where you are lacking and peaking normally.

Many people here installs their processors just before the bass amplifier, and if its filtered from a previous crossover/parametric eq, you would not get the proper effect from your bass driver. It should be mounted immediately after the headunit, so it would reconstruct your bass more accurately.
Would be a good test if you can run your bass driver with the control of another bass driver from a different brand. Give a try if you can.
Phonics Digital appears to have a website. I would suggest contacting them for a manual or maybe try asking them directly if the remote is required for operation. Never hurts trying to contact the manufacturer.
You should install it just before the bass,not after the head unit so that it DOES NOT process male vocals. If you want higher freq to be processed, adjust from crossover & anything else down stream from there. Other wise it will/may distort male vocals in your midrange freq. Just my ¢2!
