Hello

Do the SAA7210 was much better and with less jitter than the old SAA7000 ?

I have found a perfectly good working Sherwood CDP 310R cd player, it have a CDM2/10 and the same circuit than the Philips CD150 and CD350 cd players, it use a TDA 1540 Dac (14 bit) and use the SAA7010, SAA7020, SAA7000 and SAA7030.

I would use, in that Sherwood, a TDA1541A, in non-OS, if the SAA7000 would be as good than the SAA7210.

Thank

Bye

I could not realistically compare because there were two different players, one with SAA70xx family modified from TDA1540P to TDA1541A, the other with SAA7210/7220 with TDA1541A. The supporting circuitry (PSU, clock, analog part, etc.) is completely different, so any comparison would be misleading. I am not even sure if the TDA1541A is better than the TDA1540P.

Hello

TDA1540 as good as the TDA1541 ? , maby.

Since the TDA1540 are only 14 bit, they use the SAA7030 filter and noises shaping to give some kind of 16 bit.

But I've read few comment saying that TDA1540 was sound very good.

Hello

After recaping the CDM2/10 pcboard and checking the laser output power, etc..., I decided to give a try to that Sherwood cd player and to it's TDA 1540 14 bit Dac.

After listening few good cd, I found out that a TDA 1540 14 bit Dac sound much better than I was expect, it sound very good.

So a friend of mine will have that Sherwood cd player to go with his Crimson amp.
