Do quad single voltage toroidal transformers exist?

I was wondering if quad single voltage toroidal transformers are available somewhere, or are they "custom" made for amplifier companies?

Has anyone seen anything like this in ~600VA?

Here is something similar from Aliexpress, but in 220v primary and extra secondary voltages,

500va 36v-0-36v times two.jpg

Or should I just split a single 36v-0-36v 600va transformer or use two 36v-0-36v transformers and stop looking for Unicorns?

Thank you,

David.

Quad-secondary transformers for power amplifiers do exist "off the shelf", but selection isn't great... as you have found. Antek Has a few units with quad secondaries. If you can't find something there, then you'll need to look for something custom. Though it will be more that two off-the-shelf transformers.

A single transformer is better (in my opinion) that two transformers. Helps with space savings and will likely have better voltage regulation.

Toroidy in Poland does custom work, as someone else mentioned.

In the North America, SumR / Primrose does custom units in single quantities. I got an estimate recently and it was in the $150 to $200 range.

Custom Magnetics also does custom work and has O-Core and R-Core. I got an estimate from them for an R-Core... they do this as a prototype to your specs with a minimum quantity of 2. It was $150 per unit + shipping. I believe the intent is to market to companies that will ultimately place a larger order. Since it is to spec for business-to-business, I'm not sure how easy it would be to work with them if you're a hobbyist and not an electrical engineer.

Plitron used to sell to consumers, but stopped that practice 5+ years ago, as someone else already mentioned. I think you need to buy 5+ units before they'll deal with you. Likely more if its a custom piece.

Hope that helps.

Not quite. Those “4 secondary” transformers have two high power secondaries and 12 and 18 volt set of auxiliary windings. They DO have the 6 winding secondaries on some of their 1500VA units, with four main windings and the 12 and 18 volt auxiliaries. They do this because a single pair of heavy gauge wires would be impractical to wind, and split it into 4 for the lower voltage higher current range. I have used the 15632, and even added more windings to them.

Yes, David. You can have it customized made roughly around 200CAD...(mine 400VA with 4*18V secondary costed around 160)

Ask from Toroidy in Poland. They have good prices for custom made products.
I have done there several custom made transformers with good experience.

I contacted them and they got back to me last night,

Here's an updated export offer:

Audio grade transformers:
TS 600VA PRI: 2x115V SEC: 4x 35V (4,28A) - cost: 92,10 EUR/pc (0% VAT export price).

Our offer is valid for the 30 days.

In audio grade, noiseless transformer price You'll get transformer winded with with the largest possible inductance.
Core will be measured and selected, nominal induction will be lowered for the leakage flux minimization
For a best noise reduction core and all the windings are impregnated.
Transformer will also has electric and electromagnetic shields and epoxy filled interior.

Not cheap, but not unreasonable either.

I ordered it and should see it in about a month.

Poop, This info is about 12 hours too late. I already ordered it from across the pond.

I will definitely keep them in mind for next time. Someone should tell them to pay for some Google Ad Words ( 🙂 ), I searched and searched for someone in Canada, and came up empty!

Thanks,

David.
