Hi!
I faced tonight the following problem:
My RIAA - a commercial, 500-euros SS product - ( Yes, one might well call that "defective"😀 ) began to generate _very_ strong noise, as if not-tuned tuner, and that´s all suddenly, after about a one years flawless and quite well entertaining service.
The noise continues also when unplugging the cart, that is when RIAA is without input. IMHO, that most likely indicates that RIAA is not anymore working correctly. Any opinions?
Mika

Can be something around the input.
Maybe a cap or resistor or something no longer in contact.
I am almost sure there is something that can be soldered back in place.
When this noise, can you hear some music in background?
Or is it ONLY noise?
You do not mention if is same in BOTH channels.
If it is, then is something in the power supply.

Yup, it is in both channels, and in both inputs, in MM and MC side so yes, PS could be a good guess.
And no, I did not played any records so I dont know. I did not wanted to test with signal, I just turned the unit on and off for a couple of times and the noise remained unchanged every time. It in actually sounds like there really could be some serious problem in the amplifier so I did not wanted to drive any signal there.
