Absolutely. You put a resistor in series with the inductor on purpose in many situations.maybe that’s why so many people try and change out steel core inductors for ‘better’ air core ones and don’t take the DCR into account and then say the air core was ’ worse’ sounding.
Capacitors also have series resistance (ESR), particularly electrolytic capacitors which increase in ESR as they age. Hence why people claim that polypropylene caps are the best thing since sliced bread after they replace their tired 25 year old electrolytics with them, since the high ESR of the electros is usually muffling all the treble. Again a design which calls for some resistance in series with the capacitor will be less susceptible to ESR increasing as electrolytic capacitors age.
