The real horror will be when Microsoft releases a workstation to "make it easy" for them to work it out ... 😉
I'm thinking that in the future,
A group of children in the playground..
we don't mix with them they are different, not normal modified..😕..
30 years later we are superior to them...
we have been bred to be "Different and better"..😱..and there are more of use now than them..
We are better at sports, and our IQ is higher..
we are biological computers..we are connected to the internet..( the hive mind )
Another version of the AI..not again..
We don't suffer from infection..
We are the human race..
Just for fun...the only bit missing..resistance is futile..😀 (I think they call it progress)

Usually there is some kind of pay back.
Take the ACE gene which exists in two alleles. Having one version means that the body puts on muscle mass more easily and quickly and carriers of this also tend to be more decisive.
Sounds good so far and one could imagine many prospective parents would be choosing this for their off spring given the choice.
But it also means that the carriers life expectancy is 10-15% less than for carriers of the alternate version.
Not a choice I would want to have to make as a parent.
