One thing that has frustrated me in the DML threads I've visited on diyaudio.com is the absence of a lot of specific information regarding the materials used in DIY-ing DML's, particularly in the US. Many posts refer to stuff that appears to be difficult to get over here, if at all. For example, I haven't found a domestic source for Poron 92, and there are some indications that it is pretty good for smoothing out the FR of DML panels. Perhaps because it's called something else by domestic suppliers or ??? The same goes for acronyms for some of the other acoustic-damping tape materials that, unfortunately, share the same abbreviation for totally different products. I'm talking about a category of tapes that variously are used to tape down eyelids for applying fake eyelashes OR fiberglass-based shipping tape, along with vibration damping purposes. Some actual links to vendor links would REALLY help spread the DIY DML gospel.
The same kind of thing applies to references to "butyl rope" w/o much else to go by and I'm sure other readers can supply more examples. In this case on Amazon-US it's not "butyl rope" at all: example. Or MAYBE I'm totally wrong on this one -- I'm not certain!
I don't think I'm alone in this. I understand that product offerings can change over time (and this thread has been going for a LONG time), but it sure would be useful for beginners like myself to figure out just exactly what's being used in all these builds
So here's the deal. I eventually won't like doing this, but for now....PM me with your source information you've used to build your DMLs. The info MUST include the product name, NOT the seller's name, otherwise such a list will grow infinitely large. US, Europe, wherever is OK. PLEASE don't include information on items that are commonly used in the trade like PVA, common plywood, wood glue, 2x4's etc. Categories of some products (like spray paints) CAN be useful, due to potential incompatibilities between the substrate and paint solvents so that information IS useful. In general, issues related to bad results caused by a particular product group would be useful to the DML community at large so definitely worth documenting. Application issues are also fair game -- ambient temperature, application method, etc.
I won't include blow-by-blow construction steps for a particular type of DML. That is due to several reasons. First, I've seen a number of posts that describe the construction in excruciating detail. That's great, but not useful in terms of this thread. If there's someone who wants to do that, then do it YOURSELF -- you have the expertise, not me. Second, there's a finite possibility that the description may contain things that are proprietary. I don't have the resources to determine that, so the List will NOT EVER contain construction details. It is about materials and their incompatibilities.
I hope that the end result will be a list that's periodically updated on the first page of this thread. Not being familiar with how this sort of thing works, #1 may have a link to the most-recent update in the thread, instead of having the most-recent version.
I fully expect some refinement in this DML materials compendium but (hopefully) will be able to keep up with the expected initial torrent of info.
For starters, I have attached a bit of boiler plate that might serve -- for a short time -- to help interested DIYers categorize their contributions. Over time the document will likely become quite a bit more sophisticated.
FYI: my computer is running a linux OS so any DOC versions I generate may not be compatible with current MSOffice versions. Libre Office appears to be OK with MSword 97-2003 so that, for the time being, is what I will use.
Thanks!

Don't have any programs loaded to run your doc nor any interest (so far) in DML construction beyond this material, so thanks for the query.
Re Poron 92..... this appears to be readily available, but need to specify which type, so I'd start by querying the DIYers and/or Rogers Corporation and/or Secon Rubber & Plastics as to which variant(s) you ideally need.

Has anyone used plywood from https://www.wicksaircraft.com/c/aircraft-plywood/ or https://www.aircraftspruce.com/categories/building_materials/bm/menus/wp/plywood.html to make a DML?
These vendors offer a variety of types and thicknesses that look like they could be used for building DMLs.
