Hi guys, I'm looking into building my own DJ mixer (as all that's out there just lacks in my opinion, either in features, quality, or ergonomics)...
One of the most important parts is the EQ. Unfortunately, I know zero to nothing about building these. What I'm looking for is what DJs call a "kill eq" - an equalizer that is able to totally "kill" (i.e. mute (i.e. -32 dB)) a band, without giving weird resonances at other bands.
One mixer that has this kind of EQ is the Pioneer DJM 600 (that's why it's so popular - even though the line quality is crap tbh 🙄 )
OK, resonances aren't that bad if you're building a modular synth, but that's not what I'm doing 😉
It'd be nice if it were a four-band equalizer.
Also, not being bigger than a tractor wheel would also be nice. I'd probably want at least 4x2 of these in my mixer... 🙂

Possible hint? See if you can find circuits for shelf eqs for ideas. These are a little more common in my experience, and usually let you cut low or high freqs by 12dB.

Well, yes, but the circuit to cut at 36dB won't be much different than the circuit to cut at 12dB.
I didn't say it was a solution handed to you on a silver platter, I said it was a place to start looking. You'll still need to understand what you're building..

dcr-1200 pro (a 4-band eq on its own)

r-1 premium (has a 4-band eq)
r-2 premium (has a 4-band eq)
actually, it seems they're using the same eq for all of their products. no need to list them all. the "premium" should be the spiffiest ones, as it's their... well... premium line. 😉
i heard the dcr-1200 pro was supposed to be pretty nice.
