pinkmouse,

thanxalot for mailing me the diyVideo link. :up:
I will tell the other moderators.

All,
futile to discuss what caused the mess, only fact we know is that diyAudio is down since more than 24 hours.
I have tried to reach the siteowner. No success so far.

Brett,
Fred's existence harassing you so much? 🙂

Brett,
gotcha. :mischiev:

{rant}
Our communication is dominated by body language, 80%, so the communications scientists say. The remaining 20% are divided into 3/4 how we say something and only 1/4 of content, of what we say. Makes a sad 5% in total for content.
Email and forum communication is restricted to the 20% but we all, including me, are usually not permanently aware this is the case: makes the whole show even more dangerous.
{/rant}

That's where smilies can help 😀

Uhm, me humour? no way. :grumpy:...🙂

Bernhard,

Keep the rants to yourself. You haven't told me anything I don't already know. Somehow I bet Fred knew I was taking the ****, and who was on the receiving end.

As for the emoti-gifs, I have yet to see a single instance where they add anything significant to communication. Haven't I stated this clearly enough before?

DNS problems

The current www.diyaudio.com problem seems to have actually started sporadically some 2 or 3 days ago. This points to a mistake -- either accidental or a highjacking -- with the download of information from ICANN to the root DNS servers. As the caches of everyone's ISPs was refreshed diyaudio.com started to point at sitepoint.com (big internet advertising site).

Please pass on to everyone you know the alternate address .

DNS

For info,

Here the problem started on 1st November at around 4.00 AM
(GMT +2).
All of a sudden I got a blank page iso the forums' homepage.

After some e-mail between Ken Lochridge and myself (Ken thanks again) I got back in but that lasted only for about ten minutes.

We did some pinging and since I first got some timeouts from the IP address I realised my firewall was the culpritt.
After that was bypassed I did get replies but no name resolution.
Ken and myself came to the conclusion that it must be a European DNS server causing the problem.
Hours later I tried again to no avail and Ken reported he now had no access to the forum either.

Now let's just hope the mailservers can take the traffic.

Thought I'd let you know.
In the meantime I hope we can keep the post civilized please??

Cheers,😉
