DIY Video Projector

hmm i'm going to have to try my connections now... i've only been using the vga connector. I hope the other connections work alright.

also, I work at a company that works with oracle DB's and html/javascript/java all the time... so if you need some input or a little help here and there, i don't mind helping out if needed. 🙂

you can check out my geocities account at:

www.geocities.com/multiplexor_2000
I only use notepad 🙂 hehe

anywho, can't wait to get home and try my other connections.

OH... HAHA I tried plugging in a simple 100watt light, the kind we use to simply illuminate a room, those standard bulbs... well i put it behind my panel. all i can say is wow... i'm going to need ALOT more light. You guys wern't kidding when you said you need a strong light back there.

yeah, notepad rules 🙂 if you ever do use a program, use dreamweaver4+. you've got a splitscreen, where you've got a text editor /w code, and the preview of the page. Its wonderful to see all the text changes you make realtime in the preview pane. Its also the cleanest code ever from a HTML editor if you do decide to use its interface to write the page.

Anyways, yeah, I'm annoyed, mad, frustrated, and worried about my LCD panel. I just dont have the money for a $129 XGA Theater.

Can anyone recommend a cheap line doubler that has S-video, composite, cable/antenna, and RGB DB-15 inputs, with a single DB-15 VGA output? I would prefer it to have a remote and channel tuner, but, I suppose I could use my VCR for that...

i may have the anwsers

the scrambled lcd screen problem

once apond a time i had a problem with my lcd. the picture scrambled then sortly after the thing just didnt work. i looked at it
and it looked ok to me. sortly after i looked again anthe fan was blowing off the polverizer plastic sheet on the lcd. so i tape that thing back on there (im very fond of tape but i dont sujest it) and it worked again. untill the tape fell off. so i used to pieces of wood cut square holes in it the size of the viewing part on the screen. then put some matrial around the perimeter of the holes so i dont f up the lcd. then i put the lcd im between the two woods and screwd them together "very very carfully". now there is no problem there for now. but if your polverizer is melted or warped i think your s.o.l. l.o.l.

undream

i dont no if this helps you any but my car lcd that im using has a s-video hookup. but my sh*t came with a additional s-video wire that hooks up to the other on the lcd chip. on the other end of that wire is two rca jack (one for regular viewing, and one forbackwards viewing) then there is the two power wires (black & red). so basically im saying on my lcd the s-video isnt used like normal s-video wires.get it got it cooool

testing results
i used my friends low bay fixture with the metal halide 400watt
it was bright as fuc* but the reflector suck bal*z (A-15 reflector)
it look like white to me. it didnt project the picture to well.
to night im gona use it in a different reflector (the shitty reflector i made has more potaintal than the A-15). i might make another shitty reflector to (so that the light is perpendicular to the lcd.
ill tell you how it gose.
later

Macrovision

Okay, so I am not the only one with Macrovision problems. With the minds in this forum we can figure out a DIY solution.

From what I understand and have read, Macrovision needs to be fixed in our panel, not in our DVD players. Our panels have autogain adjusters, and Macrovision takes advantage of this. Basiclly the DVD player will send out signals (pictures) along with some other Macrovision signals. The Macrovision signals vary their voltage (or amps, however you want to look at it since V=I*R) temporally. Our panels interpert the changing Macrovision signals and if the voltage is low, our panels boost the signal and the picture gets brighter, if the voltage is high, then our panels lower the signal and the picture gets dimmer. However, the actual picture never needed any of this, and we get the bright dim effect.

The easiest solution would be to disable the autogain adjuster, but that is not the best. Also if we could find some cheap pre-built electronics to do it, that would be nice. However I can't find anything to help out with S-video. Anyway, does anyone know of a solution?

I found one here

http://www.repairfaq.org/filipg/LINK/F_MacroVision1.html

but I am not sure I know enough about electronics to build this.

BTW, I found a power-supply for my Nview mediapro at Inventory solutions, no need to build one now!

i got a bulb its a 400 watt high pressure sodium westing.......
light bulb about 10" long produces 55,000 lumens

spent.😡 😡 😡 😡

High Pressure Sodium has been pointed out as having the wrong color output for this project. You could have saved that money if you'd read the previous posts. It's looking like the bad mamma jammer of lighting is the metal halide variety.

Enjoy.

i think i gota idear

thery
i think as long as the reflector i is reflective and most of all it reflects some what forward (meaning light dosent bounce striat up and down reflecting off the same points) and you put a "glass"lenz right in front covering the whole opening.it will send all the lite from the bulb in one direction. thats kinda why im not stressing on making a persise measured reflector. look at my picture in the link below. tell me if im wrong anyone. i think that why my sh*tty reflector is working out.

READ THIS PLEASE

I need specifications of all the LCD projection panels. I have a list of about 45, but i know there are more. If every one of you who owns now or owned a panel before would e-mail me the brand, modeal and all the essential specs such as resolution, matrix type, refresh rate, inputs... and so on, i would be extremely pleased, and you would help me a lot, and it would save me some time. If every one of you emailed me specs from one panel, that would already save me a day. thank you

I've been following this thread for three days now. Keep up the good work, guys!. I would like to share a link with you guys which I think it is very informative.

http://www.howstuffworks.com

I will be starting this DIY projector soon bcos I need to replace my old crappy 21" TV.

Light Source - Maybe LOA, but bcos of the availability of LOA in my country(Malaysia) I would like to try out car's headlight first. In my country I can get those White HID bulbs at USD 15-20. Getting ballast and starter for it wouldnt be a problem, car junkyards will be a good place to start. Heat problem. Hmm. I did once left my car headlights switched on for 30 min or so (with engine running of course). If it is so hot, plastic material around it must have been melted. Point to ponder.

LCD - Would this product be sufficient for projecting TV/DVD/VCD movies? I will not use this projector for projecting display from computer which requires high res.

Lens, reflector - Havent figure out this yet. Maybe you guys can help.

you might wanna keep reading, all your questions are answered in the thread.

It works best in no light, but will work in low light. I'm not using a screen however, just an off white wall. surprisingly, it looks very good for a 640x480 res projector. But the thing get so hot, it's scary! It uses a 200w metal halide bulb that lasts 1000 hours and costs +$350.

I tried to get pics before but nothing came out. I'd try again.

Just so you understand. I'm not saying- go out and buy this stuff.
It's just here as an alternative/ idea.
