I'm almost done with building a couple of full range speakers. They will use two Dayton Classic 12's and a Dayton silkie. I have grills for the 12's but nothing for the tweeter.
Any simple DIY ideas to make some type of grill to protect the tweeter dome?
I had considered using a 4.5 speaker grill. But I may not have enough room on the box.
Thanks

We tried brass rod bent: |_____| with 2 or 3 protecting the dome. Had no audible effect, something I cannot say about any grille cloth we tried.
any small metal rod would work nice
the above idea works well - i have used before with no change in sound
can also paint to match,,,

I purchased some cabinet handles from Home Depot and used those to protect my tweeters mounted to my kick panels in my car.
If you shop around you will definitely come up with some very neat ideas!

Get a propane torch, some copper mesh, and some thick wire. Bend the wire into a circle, solder. Solder a circle of wire mesh to it. Simple!
You can get aluminum mesh for screen doors really cheaply at hardware stores; heavy-duty copper wire is also availible.
