What about wrapping the tube with lead solder ? If it doesn't work out you can always reuse it.

Thanks for your sggestion but already running valves at reduced heater current.
As the flexible mounting seemed to help Im first going to try to improve it.
Currently the wires to the valve pins are a little stiff which compromises the
isolation. Making up some more flexible leads.
