What is the effective mass of the arms?
The 9 inch arm is around 11g without the inertia weight installed. The inertia weight weighs 9g so if you want an inert arm, the sky's the limit.

I finally messed up a 12 inch arm in production so I set it aside to be cut down to 11 inches for my Amadeus. The results are possibly the best I've heard.

Looking good!
Have you capitulated regarding the flexible fingerlift, or is the pictured arm an aberration 😉?
BTW, let me post some links to related threads with richer DIY / engineering content (on other forums).
Rather cool new arm - AudioFlat

Thanks for posting those links, Jonathan.
No, I'm not abandoning the string lifter. I installed the rigid lifter on this arm to make sure it's a strong second best and to remind the linonophobes that it's optional. It only takes a couple of minutes to switch.
Only one SUPATRAC customer has installed the rigid lifter so far as I'm aware, and at least one person has upgraded to string on non-SUPATRAC arms.

By the way i might need some tungsten bars myself just don't know where to get them for cheap 🙂
You can get pure tungsten bars relatively cheap in the form of electrodes for TIG welders. I’ve seen them commonly in 1/16”, 3/32”, and 1/8” diameter. I’m guessing they come even larger, diameter.
Thanks - yes, that's what I use to make the counterweights.
Blackbirds are being installed on all sorts of nice decks now...
