DIY subwoofer

I recently started wanting a subwoofer for my setup (computer and retro/entertainment area) and thought building my own would be a decent idea.

I have a basic understanding of what I should do. (Get Driver, build enclosure, and get class d amp) I would just like help for what calculators to use and how big/how powerful of a sub I would need for a 8'x24' room.

How loud do you want? I find 110 db entirely adequate, and only for peaks. My room is 11'x33'.
Eminence has a cookbook cabinet for their lab12 subwoofer. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0270/8665/1462/files/LAB_12_cab.pdf
The larger vented subwoofer cabinet has f3 of 20 hz and will take up to 200 watts. The required 20 hz 18 db high pass filter to prevent exceeding Xmax can be part of an electronic crossover from Rane, Nady or Peavey. These merge the bass of the two channels for a single sub channel out, have the low end filter, and have an adjustable upper filter frequency. They also pass the two input channels to your stereo amp less the lower frequencies. I picked up a Nady for $50, but there are some on ebay for $65 plus freight and tax.
Parts-express.com has a 6 ohm lab12 today for $259. https://www.parts-express.com/Eminence-LAB-12-Professional-12-Subwoofer-Speaker-290-570?quantity=1 They also have the 4 ohm model. Class AB amps with single output transistor pair like the higher impedance. I have no idea about what class D likes, one could produce digital howl into my phono cartridge.
