I found a DIY audio site for India region, they are selling prebuilt Dayton speakers and other DIY speaker kits but they don't have any stereo amplifiers, prebuilt or DIY kits, they are selling individual components, are there any schematics available for stereo amplifiers online, I can use to build them? Some DIY speaker kits come with cabinets, some don't, which would be better, if I buy just the transducers, capacitor kits, can anyone here tell me what dimensions the speaker cabinet should be? All DIY speaker kits come with soft dome or hard dome tweeters, the prebuilt Dayton speakers come with Air Motion Transformer tweeters, which is better?
Salcon and Monty in Delhi
One site in Bangalore
Also Adatronix in Bangalore.
Alpine also ready kits.I think Delhi based, at shops.
Simply buy Keltron capacitor kits, save yourself some labor.

Ready Philips speakers in scrap market 100 onwards.
There are no standard speakers it seems except for really expensive ones.
Make them in MDF or buy kits with cabinet.
Where are you in India?

I will not say where I am in India but I found this site diyaudiocart based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, I'm considering buying from them. They are selling kits with transducers, ports, capacitors, resistors, inductors, pins and switches. I just need to know the cabinet dimensions for those.
Ask around, try and see their quality.
I have lived in many cities in India, multilingual and native across India.
Just trying to help. I can tell you where to buy in most Indian cities, and be aware that on line is expensive compared to bazaar in most of India.
Making speakers boxes is not a very big deal.
Material quality and dimensions are important.
Read up on the threads here.
Decide first how big your listening area is, and what kind of music you prefer will decide how loud you need to go.
Most amps sound clear at above 70% volume, too big an amp is worthless.
Then decide speakers, and build them.
I have Sansui and Kenwood sets in storage, classic 80s Japanese.
Daily users are Philips Powerhouse, which are really Panasonic made in India, I paid 150 each for them...have 5 in total!
Speakers are mostly Philips, one in new cabinets. One pair is locally made, clear enough.
Now Bolton is closed, and apart from Chinese and Philips, most of the speaker makers do not seem to be large scale.
Dayton is American, with factories in USA, Europe and Asia.
Have fun.
Oh, and it is easy to go over budget!

They are selling a kit with 6" inch mid-bass driver, I'm considering that kit, it also includes a 1" soft dome tweeter. What should be the cabinet dimensions for this type of kit? I found out about a local shop in my city and they are only selling SB Acoustics components and they are expensive compared to the diyaudiocart. I want something near-field for computer, I know 6" inch might be too big for near-field. But the 6" bookshelf speakers, I'm hoping to use them in 10 x 17 room, do you think they will be able to produce enough spl to create an immersive sound scape? I don't want to compromise on any spectrum, I want full range with bass, mid-range and treble. I mainly want to listen at computer, I want something small but which are good for casual listening but also neutral. Can you suggest transducers sizes, cabinet dimensions, etc I see if I can get such drivers on diyaudiocart.
12 to 18" high x 9" wide front. 15 to 18" deep, two ports 2" each for one driver and one tweeter.
No baffles, only good quality MDF.Plywood will resonate, not recommended.
Use 2030, 2050, 1875, at 12-0-12, or 4440 at 0-12 supply.
Anything like 3886 is too much for the speakers to handle.
See in scrap market...speakers are available, at most use the drivers, in new housings.
I have used car speakers on a earthen pot, and also in a housing.
Also you will get Sony car speakers brand new for a reasonable amount, they work well in MDF housings.

Local Philips 6" driver is about 900 if you can find it at a local Philips parts shop.
4" was 450 some time back, 25W at 4 ohms.
Piezo tweeters are about 50 on wards.
Dome tweeter max 200 each if locally made, not imported.
Sony car speakers are two way.
And check in car audio shops and car scrap market, usually you can find a decent used pair, which works after TLC.
4" x 8" elliptical 2 way car speakers start at 700.

Car speakers are still sold in brands and quantities which are large.Generally better material is used.
For a 170 sq ft room, 20W/channel in 8 ohms is too much, no need for higher output amps.
Conic, Nagpal, Intex, Zebronics 5.1 kits are 3000 onwards new, 300 onwards in flea market, 4 speakers, woofer, amp, FM radio.

Do you know of any Indian companies which make soft dome tweeters? Are you suggesting I buy those 5.1 kits and use their drivers in a different cabinet? Are the drivers and amplifiers from those speakers produce flat sound, as in allowing music to be heard exactly the way the artist intended it sound?

You are looking for good quality drivers in ready cabinets, or you will make the cabinets?
What is the quality of your amplifier?
What is the quality of your source?
What is your expectation regarding reproduction?
What is the kind of music you will play, and at what volume?
Tell me the advantage of soft dome tweeters over piezo and regular tweeters...
The 51 kits are okay not greatest for most music, and the sound tends to be emphasized for bass and treble, without any correction. That can be done by the playback software while using PC as source. Or by tone control.
I was suggesting reasonably priced mass produced speakers, rather than exotics, because frankly speaking exotics are outrageously priced.
I know people who have spent 70 lakhs on a valve based system, say it is like sitting in the studio with the artist....
If your budget allows that, tell me....
Lower than that, 40 lakhs.
Still lower, buy Sonodyne or Norge...
Lowest, do it yourself.

I'm new to DIY audio, so I'm looking for my first foray into it. I don't have an amplifier, source is computer, bluetooth from smart phone. I want something neutral or close to neutral. All kinds of music, first I want something near-field for computer, after that success, I might look into making bookshelf or floor standing stereo which are able to fill the room with high quality sound, not just loud sound. I don't know anything of soft dome tweeters, piezo and regular tweeters, I asked that question because you said Indian company tweeters will be cheaper. Since I'm on a DIY forum, I want to do it myself, I want to achieve the highest quality sound at the cheapest possible price.
Get a 2.1 kit, all told about 500 for the three items, Bluetooth/FM, transformer and the kit itself.
Buy a Keltron kit, if not available get it from Delhi.
Tone and volume pots from local market.
Cabinet, make in sheet , ply or whatever.
Speakers, go to the scrap market, dirt cheap.
Or buy from car scrap units, best buy good car speakers, have the cabinet made in MDF, you may find a speaker box maker to do it for you.
Buy speakers which are rated more than amp output, never will have clipping from too much power.
For this work you will have change left over from 5k.
Enjoy.

Indian piezo tweeters were about 60 each, and some multi way speakers use a 2 to 2.5" speaker as the tweeter.
Soft dome does not make sense, as they will sound dull when you need clear high notes in treble.

Soft domes dont sound dull. They just have lower max freq - still well over human listening range. I actually like soft dome mids a lot, but for tweeters I like planar magnetics (which peak past 30K) hard domes that peak past 25K then horns like those Klipschorns and EV T35's that get close to 20 but that's just me. Soft domes routinely hit 20K and up no problem. They work very well depending on what music you listen to may or may not be the best. They are by no means dull.
Cool.

The site diyaudiocart looks nice, but higher prices, no experience with quality, and too far away, I prefer the local suppliers.
Someone checked, no heat sinks are supplied. that is a big headache.
Check the Delhi prices to compare.

There are no 2.1 speakers which are sold for Rs. 500.

Yes higher prices, but they carry different brands than the ones available in local markets here and the local market ones actually cost more than diyaudiocart. Are the car speakers you are suggesting produce close to neutral sound?

2.1 kit means populated amplifier kit, with 3 TDA 2030, they were 150 when I bought, now maybe more, particularly for Keltron kit.
Transformer also less than 200.
FM Module with remote about 100.
Volume, bass, treble, woofer volume pots...10 to 20 each.
Clear?
You can get a stereo kit, if you do not want a woofer.
Speakers for cars have to survive heat and vibration, and now sell in larger volumes than those for home use. So more quantity made in better production set up. The car speakers basically operate in a very big enclosure made by the car body, so sound it quite good. Without the enclosure, most speakers do not sound good.
That is why I suggested you buy ready speakers, less hassle.
The best amp will sound bad with poor speakers. And not much difference in properly made amps in distortion figures.
So get a medium priced one, with good capacitors, at least it will not give trouble when starting after completing it.
It seems you are totally new, start with a simple basic circuit before tackling a complex one.

The same heat sink can be priced at 200 to 1500 from different suppliers.
Without a proper heat sink, you are in trouble.
Buy kit with big or too big heat sink.
If supplier does not give heat sink, do not buy...
He is saving on packing and storage, as they are bulky.
How else he is saving I have no idea.
Which is why I said buy from Delhi, they give heat sinks with the kits.
Transformers also, go for 4 if 3 Amps is recommended.
