DIY speaker wire for F5

Can someone advice on some diy speaker wire for my recently build F5. I've read that cat5 wire is good but don't know what precautions i must have. What specs from the amp do i have to consider when building the speaker cable? i have 8ohm speakers.
i think not every speaker wire is ideal for all the amps out there.

just trying to learn something.

The F5 has a moderately low output impedance, so use #12 stranded copper wire (or thicker),
especially if you need longer wire lengths. Keep both wires the same length, and as short as possible.
Use good terminations at the ends, copper ring lugs or bare. Use bananas only if necessary.

There are several ways of using Cat5 for speaker cables.
They involve lots of cable, so if you can get a drum at an advantageous price that helps.

Search for the TNT diy site. (don't know if it's correct to put a link here)
Several ideas there.

I had a couple from that site but now use Bi-wired 540 Strand Speaker Cable
from the auction site.

Keeping the cable short reduces both the capacitance and the inductance.
Short cables are the cheapest way to avoid all problems of incompatibility.
Except, Naim, thay use the cable as the output inductor.
Are there any other manufacturers that adopt a similar stability influencing component that requires a specific cable?

The F5 manual says to be careful about inductance and capacitance. Do you think the u-byte 2 could harm the amp?

If you can construct the Ubyte-2 cables from the proper wire (with the copper shield) the resistance and capacitance is quite low. Inductance over coax is low at lengths like you will use.

To clarify, you are looking at this? - The UBYTE-2 Speaker Cable

Good advice.

Not that I know of.

Specific to Naim, they made many engineering and design choices that forced to keep the user "In-System" instead of branching out and using other manufacturer's kit... wiring (interconnect, speaker and power) is the most obvious of these. Generally I believe it's was a very good idea, as a full Naim system sounds just fantastic.

I need 2.5 meters of cable to each speaker. Is it short enough?

If the cable will reach the amplifier and the speaker, then that length will be fine. 🙂
