Hi all,
Im building a DIY projector, and I have gone down the route of using a 5" LCD, 30W high power led with heatsink, and then the lenses are still an issue.
I have to available to use:
1. 2 lenses from an Overhead Projector, which dont seem to be suitable.
2. a zoom projector lens, which works with amazing quality, but only projects part of the image as the lcd is too large for the lens
3. large square fresnel lens from a OHP which works ok, but image is a bit blurry.
I would prefer to use option 2, but I cant find a solution to the image size problem.
Would someone be able to advise how to make the projected image coming from the lcd smaller, so that it can project into the zoom lens, and thus hopefully it should capture the whole image with hopefully no distortion.... is that possible?
I look forward to someone's reply in my cry for help, and ofcourse I will be sharing the progress of this project on the forums.
Thanks!
Russell

hey,
haha I guess it's kind of all a mixture of angle of views and focal lengths :/ I'm still trying to get my full image too.
refer to these threads! they may help.

and for some calculations:

it's something like, you can focus your whole screen onto most projection lenses, just depends how far away they are. so depends much on your field fresnel focus length... if i'm not wrong.
cheers 🙂

Cheers, ill have a read of those links.
Are there different types of fresnel lenses (aside from different focal lengths ofcourse?)
The reason I am asking is that some seem to focus light to a point, or thereabouts, and then some spread the light, to fill for example a projection screen. Which is it, or is it both? I apologise for my ignorant understanding of how these lenses work :s
