Yes, I can imagine. To minimise complexity I've ordered one of the 6 gang pots 😱
Sfernice (I think) used to sold pots which could be piled. The idea was excellent but the building quality and the mechanical assembly should have been much better.

I can ask a copy from the guy who has it now but it may last a bit of time to get it. The article was published around year 2000, I think. Maybe a DiyAudio member could provide it.
