You could try the Jordan VTL which is flat, shallow profile and could be wall hung. For best stereo, however, you would need a piano hinge arrangement to be able to swing the enclosures inwards to the required toe-in. However they are designed for back to wall use.
The alternative with this (and other designs) is to mount the speaker on the inner edges and angle them. Ted Jordan does this with his linear array system using the JXR6 drivers. If you used something like these, you could add bass with a small sub-bass unit, tucked away somewhere unobtrusive (or disguised as a coffee table if you build your own).

Hi Ewan, i sould (of course) suggets my TABAQ. Againts the wall the BSC is not really needed. You could hang them on the wall with some light between the cabinet and the wall. This will look as if they are hoovering in the air.
You could combune the TAVAQ with my HideAway sub.
- just a suggestion

Hi from Bjorn
Just to get out of the engineering ballpark for a minute and looking at conventional solutions, is a metal grille (such as are available for Fostex) out of the question? Those are round and screwed over the speaker.
I didn't see this brought up yet.
Protecting the speaker allows for a lot more flexibility. And in past posts, the notion of using pet screen for a grille has also been offered. Pet screen mounted in a frame and secured would be another 'tamper proof' option.

just sims... but the VTL never struck me as a vigorously designed box....

We have used similar on occasion. There is a sonic penalty, but not as much as someone poking in the dustcap, wrinkling the whizzer or worse.
