Northern California DIY 2004 Speaker Building Event
------------------------------------------------------------------

Date:
Saturday 9/18/04
Please note, this date worked for the most people. Sorry if it doesn’t work for you.

Time:
10am to 3pm. Those bringing demos please arrive at 9am and expect to stay a bit later.

Where:
Saint Mary’s College, Moraga
(near the 24 and 680 interchange (NE of Oakland/near Walnut Creek))

See map at http://www.sfgate.com/traveler/acrobat/maps/1998/sfbay01.pdf

For those in Eastern CA, this is much easier to get to than going completely into the Bay Area!

Specific room details, campus map, etc. to be posted later.

Fees:
$10-20/person for facility rental costs.

Contact and Email:
Jonathan Zaremski
ncaldiy04@yahoo.com

Food and Drink
Essentially BYO. We’ll supply ice chests for keeping drinks cool. Please volunteer to bring snacks and drinks to share, either bring a “sack lunch” for yourself or we can order pizza for delivery.

Activities
· Speaker Auditions: Bring your DIY speakers, listen to those of others!
· Best Speaker Contest: The audience will rate and vote on the speaker which best meets its stated design goals (more details later)
· Software Demos: demos of speaker measurement, crossover CAD, and digital crossover emulation (several different digital crossovers will be tried on the same speaker)

What to bring:
· Speakers to audition. These can be “works in progress.” In the past, people have brought unfinished boxes, prototype crossovers, etc. Please email us in advance if you plan on bringing speakers. It will help us plan things out.
· Speaker description sheets if you are entering the contest
· Let us know if you can bring audio equipment (CD players, amps, cable, etc.)
· Your favorite listening/test CDs
· Food as noted above

Acknowledgements:
· Thanks to former organizer Mark K for his help with ideas, posting to web site, etc.
· Thanks to Dave Edick for help on the location.
· Thanks to Soundeasy for sponsoring the event
