After meeting a local budding "audiophile" while visiting my daughter there last month, I've taken to wondering if there any local "fellow travelers" willing to offer him a taste of what we had a chance to speak about over dinner.

Hi Chris,
I guess that would depend a great deal about what you discussed over dinner. DIY? Speakers? Amps? Pre's? EnABL? Thhoossee itty bitty bikini's??
Who's pay'n for da ticket?? 😀
Re: Re: DIY in Bermuda?
"Fellow travelers" was perhaps too obtuse an allusion to members of the middle-aged DIY audio community, willing to share their observations / "wisdom" with the next generation.
As it was a group of 6 couples at a sushi restaurant, the range and duration of audio topics at dinner were somewhat constrained, but I did my best to impart a few impressions based on 40+yrs in "the life" : there is no best, "synergy", and why I've gravitated to roll yer own & less is best. Well, OK, there was some mention of magic polka dots.
March in Bermuda is a bit early for itty bitty bikinis, although on the following week's Caribbean cruise and shore excursions, there definitely was a range of "swim wear" from optional at St Maarten's Orient Beach to (funny how it takes only a few 60yr old obese Germans to train your attention back to your paperback novel), to only slightly more modest back on the pool deck of the boat.
As for the ticket, that was my wife's last year's bonus - she was gracious enough to bring me along for the ride.

Twas a Tar in USN and sailed in the "triangle" many times. Every time I hear the song "Rum and Coke-a-cola" my stomach still wants to kick over and empty out. Very simular to the reaction I get when speaking of things audio to the unwashed huddled masses listening to music on their laptop's built in speakers.
Being down in "The Islands" for spring break while I was in the USN was great fun. Those trust fund babies that were there on vacation were living by the rule "what happens on spring break - stays with spring break" - and I served my duty proudly. 🙄

The intention was to recruit any Bermudian locals to assist the acolyte in his journey- get together listening sessions/ beverages, BBQs and BS, etc. (Charles, the teeny bikinis are no doubt prolific later in the season, but would be a distraction)
To say that the volume and veracity of information available via the internet is a mixed blessing for newbies to any hobby, would be the singular understatement of the week. The proof would be in the hearing.
There are no direct flights from Victoria to Hamilton, and 3 segment red-eye flights are for the young-ens.
