DIY horns get veneer

Hi

Beatiful project. I have a pair of 2226 and 2405 and plan to do something like you. I probably buy some 2380 horns.

Pleas tell me:

How did you make the border between the grey paint and the veneer? Isnt it easy to get this uneven?

And when you veneered the curved sides, was the plate you pressured with also curved?

Wow blast from the past. I had forgotten about this old thread.

The front baffle is inset (set back from the sides).This creates a "lip" I could paint on one side and then have the veneer up to the other side. This lip is also what hold the grill in place. On the bottom ledge, I painted first and then veneered up to the front baffle. The paint was sprayed on and has a texture to it. Kind of like fine sand.

All the veneer was applied with Heat-Lock glue. The glue is rolled on the veneer and the cabinet. You let it dry and then iron it on. The heat from the iron reactivates the glue and the two sides stick together.
