i guess most of you know the article from TNT audio about DIY interconnectors using CAT5 and CAT6 cables. I want to make a cable to connect between a cmoy amp and an ipod or cd player. what kind of cable i should use or what technique?
It doesn't matter, especially since you are talking about a cable length of a few inches.
You want high performance? Lose the ipod and listen to lossless compressed or uncompressed files.

i just gave the ipod as an example, i don't use ipods 🙂 i use cd players and minidisc players. but you didn't really answer my question.
Get some coax from partsexpress for unbalanced connections, or shielded microphone cable for balanced or unbalanced connections. They sell connectors as well, I got some neutrik economy rca and xlr, and they were pretty nice. Some connector parts require a 50 Watt soldering iron to get a good solder.
I think cables can be funny. I got a preamp a while back at an audio store and they wanted to sell me some cables which were sort of expensive. The thing is, the shortest ones were 3 feet. My interconnects that are only as long as necessary almost surely win, even if the premium ones have slightly better capacitance per foot, etc.

I've had really great experience with www.diycable.com. They have good parts and I'm using their commercial built cables in my system with good results.
