I'm not sure exactly how much, but "setup fees" for custom cast speaker baskets, tooling costs for cones, etc... Depending which companies you work with lots of different aspects end up costing hundreds or thousands of dollars each...

If I found a few people to work with we could probably figure out how to do it without too much money.

Yeah, it seems like if we're just going to produce one or two, there's probably a way to do it at higher per driver cost, but no overhead.

Whereabouts is Midwest? What state is that? I work for the postal service and I've never heard of a town called Midwest 😀

Parts Express sells some Piezo (pizeo? forgot the spelling, durh..) horn tweeters with a little paper cone on them in the chamber behind the horn, maybe you could just take that assembly out and us it. They were really cheap, don't remember the part # though.
