I'm going for a 6db time/phase aligned (centers lined up too) mtm.
like dunlavy sc1 linked below, but larger woofs and slightly lower crossover point.

I'm fixated on morel cat378 horn/dome, i have 4 collecting dust.
Morel CAT378 Horn Tweeter
MOREL CAT 378 Soft Dome Horn Tweeter – AmpsLab
With its 5.6uf it is 6db down at 2khz and 12db down at 1khz.
I had good results running it back a couple of inchs with a 10" eminence b102 (run wide open).
So I've been looking for around 92db woof (8" for a 2-way), or 86db x2 (8ohm) mtm wired in parallel.
Needing a flat impedance curve also.
The rival acoustics 7" woofers (made in Canada, sold by RAD (rhythm audio design)) have copper cap, making for an easy inductor 6db crossover.
Kevlar (looks smooth)
Lowest Price for Kevlar woofers by Rival Acoustics – Rhythm Audio Design
carbon/paper has a big resonance that a notch may not help much (mixed with 6db crossover)...………..

Thoughts ?

The impedance and FR of the Kevlar version indeed looks smooth and workable, but i have no experience with it.
Finding 92 db or higher 8 inch woofers that looks well behaved in FR and Impedance does not seem easy really.
My fav would be the 18 sound 8nmb420.
Faital 8rs250 looks okay.

Keep in mind that you can make a speaker with phase response that's nearly as good as the Dunlavy and Thiels, with higher order filters, if you place the woofers about 3" forward of the tweeter.

These transient perfect crossovers thow me for a loop.
I will grab and read that link tomorrow.
I think of spica's claim to pass a square wave.
I was wondering about the fir crossovers like in your yamaha.
I did enjoy my thiel model 4's and cs2, just was into sheer dynamics then.
Now i have a better horn that can't go as low to 15's as i'd like.
So i enjoy my jbl (non 6db) 2-way, for what it is.

Eek, good read.
Yea 6db is rough, interesting that the fir was better off axis......
The freq of the rival kevlar woof is flat to 4khz, would work with single inductor, as 6db down @2khz, -12db@4khz i think would work fine.
What has better percussion, the vandy or the yammi ?
And that is true, full range drivers usually have a similar slow phase climb like your vandy's climb.
