have you seen(read) the article?

allan

Sorry I have not seen it. I would have bought the article online if the source was available but that appears not to be the case.

I prefer learning by hacking at existing working code in small increments, this might have been a good intro to ATMEL UC's for me

alas....

Hi all

I'm arriving a bit late on this thread but if anyone is interested in such a DIY project he/she may want to have a glance at what I've started a month ago.

Some details are still to be finalized, like choosing the display type (LCD, VFD ? I have both and I'm undecided) but the thing plays wonderfully well at the moment 🙂

Here's a link toward the page : Diy CD player
(sorry, it's currently in french but I intend to translate it some day).

And a picture of the (almost) completed project a few weeks ago.

Hi. I'm using ADLABS KIT which is based on a PIC u-controller.

http://www.audiokit.ro/cdrom.html

All is ok, both with CDROM and DVDROM exept on the following: it is able to play only original music CDs. Nothing to do with Music copied on CD-R. ALL CDROM drives seems not to be able to read....... I cannot understand.

Why?

If it is a true cd copy then I would suspect you are using a very old CDROM? Some were intolerant.
Try to burn a RW I have a sony that will only read those

NO CD-R Reading ADLABS KIT

Hi!

Is there a possibility that the reason on this depends on Controller code?

I've tried with:

- NEC Lite-on DVDROM (no CD-R reading)
- NEC Lite-on CDROM (no CD-R reading)
- HP CDROM ((no CD-R reading)

Nohing to do... the CDROM continue to spin and stop cycling...

Should I try with PHILIPS OR SONY CDROM? (Hard to find nowadays)
