Have you etched yet?

The lands/pads look a bit small.
It would help when you come to soldering if the land was a bit wider so that your soldering tip fits onto and transfer heat to the pad without touching the lead until you are ready to roll across and make the joint.

Andrew:
Yes, I etched the board and soldered everything up.
The pads were OK- it's a pretty big board (8.5" x 5" approx) so it may be a bit deceptive - the pads were big enough.
The only area where I needed to be careful was where the TO-220 transistors soldered in - without a soldermask I needed to watch for bridges. With magnifier headset all went well.

Stuffing and soldering PCBs is a bit boring after the fun of doing P2P tube stuff and 'improvising on the fly' to some extent- adding a terminal strip at the last minute, etc.. With SS the fun is in the design IMO, and I'm definitely incompetent in that area. Perhaps I should use perfboard next time...

But the preamp works just fine - dead quiet when it's supposed to be, and no smoke.🙂
