DIY Beamer or make it yourself?

Hi,
I'm having a difficult time deciding whether to go the easy route or slightly harder route in making a projector.

I would like to make the whole thing myself ie: making box, designing layout etc... but I'm not sure how succesful this will turn out.

I have a 5" lcd (PSone) which I would use if I decided to make the box myself. I also have an OHP which I would be able to strip for the essential parts (triplet, fresnel, bulb etc....).

The other choice which I am considering is what Ive seen people call a beamer?? Its where you place an LCD on top of the OHP (with a slight gap and cooling). If I went this route I would have to buy a suficient 15" monitor.

Obviously the resolution of the 15" would be better and the design is far easier (just plonk a LCD ontop of the OHP) but I'm not 100% convinced with the results that it might give?

Has anyone got any advice as to which they think I should do? This is my first time at doing anything projector related.

I would just be using the projector for watching movies (in a dark room) so the quality does not have to outstanding but does have to be watchable. Do you think I can achieve watchable results with the 5" homemade projector? At the moment I am just using S-video out on my gfx card to the av input of my Psone screen (I may decide to do the vga mod).

Any input would be great.

Thanks
