DIY Bass Shaker DIY safe or not on amps?
Hello! I have a question since gear is available but no documentation. I have 2 SONY 13cm woofers and I would go for a bass shaker DIY made out of them.
Let's say I would succesfully complete the procedure of mounting the screws, epoxy the whole thing and mount the cross acrylic or steel beam, would the now being transducer fry up my receiver or am I putting my equipment to any risk any side further away from the state of the before woofer in it's original state action?
Impedance risks?
Thank you!

The impedance will change, but whatever happens, it cannot go below the dc resistance. If your amplifier can handle that, it will be fine.
Nice, for any circumstance I ordered a DAVE Dayton just to see how it works and made 4 of these! They still need to harden. I will be firing them up tomorow. Pics later. Thanx!
Well done four of them, first there were 2 that I have let 10 hours moderate volume to be played upon for burn in 100 hours method to be applied upon them because the drivers were new.
Now to say there is: Ease of project, easy. Aspect 5 out of 10. Practicality 7 out of 10 because they take space and the looks because of the nature of them caring the shape that they have, Basket, Magnet and Driving screw give the maximum aspect that you can carry on your mind. Now all the looks can be masked further if you wish to put some more further work.
Regarding functionality, they work 100% and they give the to be expected results.
The effect upon music they work but I would recommend them the most of the percentage for movies and video content.
Take care of:
- Impedance: respect wiring in series or parallel
- Choice of flange for driving the bass shake: thicker material for bigger driver
Thanks!

You guys they should be cut at 80 - 120hz because they still produce mid frequencies! The feel as I had them experienced it is very lively I listened to Night Sattins of Procol Harrum the live version and at the start of the drums i felt the kick go straight throgh me to the ceiling up and back at 15w estimated and it was verry good! 10w usage of these do very good every day, no noise in the house and horror movies will bring bumps of pleasure of insorbtion into you! Really at 20w of mine 60w factory description will make you fall on your bumm in my case scenario! So dare and do! I did! Thanx
