It is quite clear we are not singing from the same hymn sheet. ADAT based I/O bypasses the onboard conversion when present. ADC's with the ADAT interface are many and varied and are all external, usually multichannel, rack mount affairs.
As I said before no analogue need come anywhere near the computer.
