DIY 50w LED Multichip into Infocus X1, need a couple pointers.

Been playing with the LED multichips for years and have a bunch laying around, got heatsinks, drivers, chips, culminators, lenses etc.

Got an Infocus X1 digital projector for free from a neighbour and he said I should look into an LED swap since he thought the balast was bad on this one.

Bulb in it is brand new, but I get the 3 blinking red lights after it goes through power up cycle.

I know I need to bypass the ballast by grounding one of the pin connections and cutting loose another. I have a 20 pin connection port on this and I need to know which one to cut and which one to ground.

If you have done this before and can give me either a good picture of which ones to modify or which number pin to do what to I would be most grateful 🙂

On a side note, I managed to fit a perfect sized heat sink into the existing frame of where the bulb goes by just dremeling off a few bits of the aluminium heatsink. So it fits the chip and heatsink perfectly without modifying the case or DPJ at all.

Next up after the bypass is wiring in the driver board for the LED into a toggle switch up top and running power off the main plug in over to the driver and housing it inside the case.

Fun Fun Fun 🙂

Thanks for letting me lurk on your forums for so long, picked up a lot of good stuff.

Cheers!
Stu
