distance between lcd panel and fresnel

Read through quite a bit of the forum but I cant recall anyone saying anything about this, so...

It seems to me that a lot of light going through the fresnel is lost on the frame of the lcd panel, unless of course youre using a monitor tft (12"+ diagonal) the lcd on my panel measures about 9" diagonal so if I raise the panel of the ohp glass the the point where the cone of light just encompasses the actual lcd screen would not a lot more light be directed by the fresnel though the actual lcd as opposed to be lost on the frame? The image would need to be refocused of course as the panel is closer to the lens. Obviously the gap between the panel and ohp would have to be shrouded to block all the escaping light from the sides. Am I making sense? Has anyone heard of this?

Gonna have a play with my panel and ohp to see if the image seems brighter.
