Here's the deal - I built myself a LCD + OHP projector and everything is working great, for the most part. You can read about my project here if you are interested http://www.gmeel.com/lcdproject
Now here's my problem: My projector's aperture is still slightly too small for my 15" lcd even though I widened it as much as I could.
My question is this: is there some way to run my XGA resolution monitor at, say, 960x720 or even 800x600 but not have it interplolate to make the picture fill the entire screen? That is, I want to shrink my resolution such that I am running at a lower resolution with a black box around the edges so that I am able to see my entire display through the smaller stage aperture.
It seems there should be some way to do this - anyone know how? Thanks a lot!
Specs if you want them:
LCD - CMV CT-529A
OHP - Apollo Odyssey 11000

For OS X, use SwitchResX with a DVI connector; for Windows, I believe everybody here uses PowerStrip. In Linux it's probably some horrible thing you have to tweak in XFree86 settings. =( I looked at your site; do you recommend shaving off the corners of your OHP like you did? Does it work?
Yeah, cutting those corners off the OHP helped enlarge my picture by quite a bit. Of course, I would reccomend you use a dremel tool or something other than my cave-man hot knife melts plastic method 😛 I'll check out powerstrip and see if it will do what I want, thanks!
Well I tried out the program but I really don't see any way to run my monitor like I want. Are you sure it can do it?
I am using a Viewsonic VE-500 that has FFC issues. I am running it at 1024x480, and I have also run it at 848x480. I am using an Nvidia card, an FX5200, and in the advanced display properties there is a tab to select 'Display Mode Timing'. Set this to 'Fixed Aspect Ratio' and it will use only the pixels needed for the chosen resolution without upscaling it to fill the whole screen. Then Powerstrip can be used to position it where you like, but be sure to check the box labeled 'Lock Scan Frequencies'. You can drag the display anywhere on the screen, and further adjust the size of it. Hope that helps!
Postproduction and Powerstrip.
Hi, can you give us more detail on the POST PRODUCTION part ? Did you just spot the LCD over the OHP without ANY protection ? IR or UV, or FANS ?
By the way, did you try using powerstrip ? Any other info ?
Have you been using it for a long time ?
Thanks !!!!
