7ft from the screen. Does the OHP block your view of the
screen at all being in the center of the screen. I guess you
can not sit directely center of the screen because the OHP
will be in the way???

right now that is the case but im hoping to change the config around soon. The room it is in now is kind of small, but soon i will move it in my room. More room there and i am hoping to make a projection screen i will hang there as well but not anytime soon. Funds limited cause school is starting soon.
what i do want to do is work on the clarity right now. Correct me if im wrong but all ohp's have fresnel's right. some post i have read say they had to get them and then split em and what not.
Is it located under the glass screen of the ohp? Are two fresnel's sandwiching an lcd betten then one whether it is above of below the lcd? Can somebody point me to where i can get more info on this subject.

I just purchased a 3M 9550 also and I am trying to decide whether to use a 14 or 15 inch monitor.
How much, if any, is cut off from the LCD screen width (12 inch width) due to the 11.25 inch aperture on the OHP? Did you modify your OHP? If I get a 15 inch I will probably go with the Samsung 512N, this is preferable since it looks like from other comments that this is fairly easy to disassemble. The 14 inch monitors I have been considering are generics with no disassembly info.
How do you like the picture quality so far?
Thanks

About an inch is cut off from allsides. Doesn't effect much when you watch letterbox movies. I think the way to get that inch back is to put the fresnel above the lcd but i am not sure if that is true.
As far as buying a samsung 512n, i checked it out in action at best buy before i bought my lcd and i didn't like it. Doesn't seem it is ideal for multimedia which is mainly what i use mine for. I thought it was too dark and the contrast wasn't that impressive even when adjusted higher. In side by side comparison I liked the hp 152 and sony's sdm-hs53 over the samsung and my benq is pretty similar to hp and sony's quality. Price wise i would say you save maybe $30-$40 but the quality loss isn't justified. But that is just me.....
So far the picture quality is good.. but i still want to get a better graphics card and try the different fresnel lens positions....Just been a little busy with school and work.

I just stripped one of these and my job was made considerably easier after reading this post. Just wanted to say thank you, your notes were very helpful !
I too just utilized your article. It took me maybe 40 min to strip this monitor, thanks so much. I can't wait to get my OHP fired up tomorrow after work. 🙂
