Discrete circuit for relay selecting help

Hello. I kindly ask your help in designing a discrete circuit. It seems i am unable to make it work on my own.
I need to build a relay based source selector. I need to select the active relay using a few push buttons, each button associated with a relay. Thank you

Try this 4 pos. switch, easily extended to 8 or more. The 0.1uF cap across the "Off" switch asures that the unit is off on power-up. All pb-switches are momentary. Good luck! E

Please describe how 4012 works.
Then you could follow up with the 4044.
