Direct/reflecting

I know it's not done very often (like it was in the mid 70's) and I'm not talking about the Bose 901's.... but there were some other direct/reflecting speaker systems that I rather liked.

One was the EPI 602 which looked like the 901's, and then also there were other "tower" spreakers that simply had the same woofer/tweeter pair on each of the towers 4 sides. Even some 3 sided towers as well.

Have there been any designs with full range drivers like that in this forum?

I may goof around with a 901 "look" with 3 full range myself for fun.

Actually, the EPI 602 in the right room was a great sound stage.

I don't know about this forum, but I've seen various polyhedral cabinets all over the web. Maybe not so much direct reflecting, but more like direct reflecting reflecting reflecting reflecting....

Pretty wild.

Be a good gimmick to mount in the center of a restaurant ceiling or something.

Hey if B&W can build a "Snail speaker" -- why not?

Seriously though, I liked those old EPI 602's I had.

Just a matter of finding the right drivers and I'll build something.
