I will be using the S03 isolator/reclocker just before the DAC so most likely this will be good enough rather than doing all the upstream improvements.
Yeah it would be interesting to see if the reclocker can completely isolate all the upstream grit. When you hear about the thousands some spend on their computers tweaking them out to the max, it would make much more since having a simple reclocker if it can replace all the need for these tweaks.

To be honest Acko, the ES9018 rarely gets any air time now and I'm even beginning to think about moving it on.
The subnet is just about optimising the environment in which the NAA operates.

Here's a complete turnkey NUC system using pretty much the same SBC I'm using for my NAA. Power this with a good linear supply, disable everything unnecessary in the Bios, slap a cheap 4gb stick of ram in it, install Audiolinux on USB 3 stick, and you have an NAA that is out of this world. And all 100% Intel quality. This SBC in the box is built to industrial computer standards.

Acko's supply's would probably be excellent. As long as you have 20-25W any voltage from 12-24 works fine.
See the power supply consideration chart, and maybe Acko can make a recommendation for what he can offer.

6-7 months ago I was chatting with the guy at DIYINHK about building a new multichannel DSD capable USB interface based on the new XMOS XCORE-200 chips. He said thanks for the idea, and he will consider it. Well I was just on his website, and seen that he actually built it and it's up for sale! But it's looking like external clocks will be required to take advantage of the DSD. I was thinking perhaps together with an 8 channel version of your reclocker, a killer multichannel DSD capable USB interface could be made for use with your Direct Drive DSD DAC.
I have emailed to ask more details about the capabilities. But this chip is much more powerful than any other the other chips any of the other Xmos based USB interfaces are using. DSD 512 over 8 channel should be possible. And driverless with Linux NAA as well!!

They got back to me and they are going to try to get the firmware working for DSD 256 over 8 channels with HQ player on Linux! So we will see how it pans out.
The chip has more than enough power. 4x the power of the chip JL sounds uses. 2000 mips vs 500 mips.
Plus it can be custom programmed by the end user via an adapter module and Windows software.
They say it can even do DSD 1028! But probably only over 2 channels.
