WTB DIR9001on adapterboard DIP 28 to replace CS8412

Hi, I have the IC but not adapter boards as DACs that originally used CS8412 are usually outperformed by newer designs in various ways. In other words I would not bother to use an adapter board but rather build/buy a new source device with well performing built in DAC chips (and thus avoiding both USB and SPDIF interfaces completely).

If you insist on using old interfaces an adapter board can be designed quite fast in kiCAD. Others have made adapter boards for older SPDIF receiver ICs but please note the jitter numbers of both the original and the replacements. I have seriously heard tube guys stating that jitter is needed for audiophile playback so if that is your cup of tea...

Non native speaker here so many language mistakes but I think he wants a drop in replacement in DIP28 format to replace a CS8412. A bit like the thread title indicates. These are not pin compatible so one needs a "translation" PCB with a technically superior SPDIF receiver to replace the nowadays unacceptable jittery CS8412.

I wouldn't know. Maybe Jean-Paul would use WM8804 or AK4118. WM8804 is less picky compared to DIR9001 and reduces jitter to a half...quarter of that of CS8412. AK4118 is the ahem "new(est)" kid on the block and maybe it is the most interesting one of all.

Trust me, I have heard many stories of people going back to CS8412. Apparently the high jitter adds something they like.
