hi all...i'm looking for a DIP, non sop, soic, bga or what else digital audio receiver chip!!you know, like cs8414 but DIP, and if possible, available like sample from some company!!😀
i just want to build my first dac myself...

Hi raikkonen,
The dip version of cs8414 is cs8412 but is discontinued, the difference is that the newer 8414 can do 24bit/96khz.Both are pin compatible.Try asking members if they have a spare .Now no receiver is DIP anymore. As for free sample I think T.I. stop giving samples because of this type of abuse.😀

damn!!18$ for a cs 8412!!!quite expensive I think...i've found ad1866 free DIP samples, so half of the job is done...😀 i just need this receiver...cirrus is the only one that makers that kind of chip?and what about akm??any experience?
DIP digital audio reciever...?
Hi Raikkonen,
There is T.I.'s DIR1703 but smt you can try for samples and make a small strip board adapter can't you? Be creative.

Check out the post- Ultimate TDA1541A DAC thread #post979728
Tubelover is offering CS8414/8412 with adapter for US$10 each.

the dir1703 and dir1701 seems not exist in ti website...😕
but cirrus(with a bit of luck) probably will send me the cs8416 in soic, and i have already found an adapter on ebay from china...😀
sorry but i had bad experiences with homemade pcb's...😱 but maybe a little adapter...do you have a layout?

Hi Kimi 😀
Don't be afraid of the SMD, it's more funny than the through-hole!
Maybe this board could help you:
http://www.rs-components.it
product code: 463-2847
I have a CS8414 left over. 10 euro all included (postepay). If you are interested send me a PM.
Ciao 😉

ciao roberto!
rs-components is a little bit too expensive...especially for people like me who catches components from free sample service of various corporations...😀 ortherwise ebay is usually a good cheap source!!now i'm waiting for the cs8416 confirn and looking for a dac...i've found the ad1866, free and DIP!!but don't know if it's easy to interface with cs8416...

They were discontinued around a year ago (or so).
i supposed...but it's strange that nothing is left on their website...you know a datasheet, an application note...nothing!!

Yes it is very strange indeed. Usually discontinued parts are "obsoleted" and the data remains available. They are trying to make it look like the part never existed. I still have a few of each that I haven't used yet, and they can't delete the datasheet files from my hard drive!

It's definitely true!!
Maybe the reason is the bug of the DIR at the change of the sample rate. It's unable to look the new fs without a reset - so a microcontroller is needed!
Here is the datasheet integration about the bug.
Hi,
May I know why CS8416 is not as popular as CS8414, even though it is cheaper and also better specs?
Thanks,
Ipanema

CS8416 is not so versatile in hardware mode and specs aren't better as you think. I remember a lost member of this forum - J.Homo - who didn't recommend this DIR.
this could be true but...i think the cs8414 is no more available and completely replaced by cs8416. cirrus says cs8414 has not to be used in new designs...
good news...
searching...
i've found 28 pin DIP samples from NPC of sm5842 and sm5864, dac and digital filter!!that's nice...and i've also found TDA7274, that should be an spdif decoder but i can't find much on it...anyone?
