It's called ZDsomething, so it is probably a Zener diode. Judging by its size it must be a 400 mW or 500 mW Zener. The photograph is too vague to see what the Zener voltage is.

You first need to know what the correct Zener voltage is. If it is used as the reference for some sort of voltage regulator, a too high voltage could easily lead to damage beyond repair. Can you read any part of what is printed on the diode?
It will be a BZY88C24. It is the 24volt clamp between the heaters/filament and the negative bias. If it was faulty, there would be no display at all.
